Chapter
Serving Northeast Missouri
![]()
The Kirksville Sigma Xi Chapter, founded in 1989, represents a cooperative venture between Truman State University and Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCOM), thus embodying the Sigma Xi motto of "zealous companionship in research." Membership in the Kirksville Chapter, which includes membership in the National Organization and a subscription to American Scientist, is open to those with an interest in scientific research. The missions of Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society, are to "honor scientific accomplishments, to encourage and to enhance the world-wide appreciation and support of original investigation in science and technology, and to foster world-wide a creative and dynamic interaction among science, technology and society." One way that Sigma Xi fulfills this mission is to sponsor Grants-in-Aid of Research for any undergraduate, graduate student, or other young investigator.
