Kirksville Sigma Xi Chapter
Teacher of the Year
During each academic year, the Kirksville Chapter of Sigma Xi calls for nominations for its Outstanding Science and/or Mathematics Teacher Awards. Two awards are usually given: one to a primary school teacher and one to a secondary school teacher. Nominees are solicited from the geographic area served by the Chapter, and nominations are reviewed by a committee of Chapter members. For their contributions to science and mathematics education, the teachers selected for this honor receive a plaque at the Kirksville Sigma Xi Chapter's Annual Banquet, a small honorarium, and a one-year subscription to American Scientist, the journal of Sigma Xi.
Nominate an Outstanding Math/Science Teacher
If you know of a teacher from Northeast Missouri who deserves recognition as the Kirksville Sigma Xi Math/Science Teacher-of-the-Year, please initiate the nomination process. Click here to download the solicitation for nominations and nomination form. To nominate a teacher, please fill out the form and mail it to the address listed on the form. You will also need to ask colleagues and/or students of the teacher to write letters in support of the nomination, and mail them to the address listed on the form. It will be helpful to include the teacher's school principal in the nomination process.
